School Bio

The King’s Daughters’ School has more than 60 years' experience in serving individuals with intellectual disabilities. Our co-educational program includes functional education classes, as well as social and recreational activities (planned by a full-time Recreational Therapist), and daily living skills training in our residential homes. KDS is primarily made up of two campuses: our Main Campus and The Center for Autism campus. Both are located in Columbia, TN, which is approximately one hour south of Nashville. The Main Campus is highly structured and individualized to meet each student's needs and offers school-aged programming (Total Lifestyles Program) that focuses on functional academics, independent living skills, job readiness, and behavior management. The staff to student ratio is 1:4 with a 24/7 wake staff. The Main Campus also offers adult programming in our Young Adult Academy for adults aged 22+. The Center for Autism is a separate campus that provides training for students with more severe communication, self-help, behavioral, transitioning, and/or social challenges. Adolescent students (up to age 18 at enrollment) with classic autism are best served at our Center for Autism. The staff to student ratio is 1:2.5 with a 24/7 wake staff.
