School Bio

MSS is a Catholic Diocesan school for students with learning disabilities and related difficulties. Morning Star School admits students of any race, color, national or ethnic background and accepts students of all religious creeds. Students must be between the ages of 6 and 13 years, have a current psychological evaluation and have a potentially normal or above normal intelligence to be considered for enrollment. Morning Star School is a full day academic program. A complete curriculum is offered in a structured setting. Students participate in small, individual progress classes in a non-graded setting. Teacher-Student ratio averages 10:1. State certified special education teachers provide students with opportunities to be successful while stressing the importance of personal integrity, appropriate social skills and good work habits. The Primary students (6-9 years) attend self-contained classes, with some grouping according to ability for academic subjects. The Prep students (9-13 years) and Junior High (12-16 years) levels are departmentalized by subject areas and ability-grouped in these areas. The Junior High curriculum offers courses that help prepare students to enter high school.
