School Bio

We provide full-day, year-round educational and vocational services for children and adolescents from 3 to age 22, using proven methods of treatment and teaching based on the latest clinical and applied research. The May Center School is a Massachusetts Chapter-766 approved school. At the May Center School, we focus on building communication, social, behavioral, vocational, and academic skills. Working together with families to prepare for the transition to adulthood, and utilizing the considerable resources available to us, our caring professionals help each child to reach his or her highest potential. To demonstrate our commitment to the students we serve and ensure that we meet the highest possible standards, our Quality Improvement, Safety, and Clinical Leadership teams work with all programs to measure performance. We use four areas to track progress — effectiveness, efficiency, access, and satisfaction. Our results reveal an outstanding level of satisfaction on the part of individuals served, families and guardians, and affiliated agencies. These consistently high ratings are a direct result of the hard work of our staff. We are dedicated to providing the highest quality education available. Our academic instruction programs are based on published best practice standards for teaching children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders and related disabilities. Our school's spacious, state-of-the-art facility offers an array of services specifically designed to support the unique needs of our students. Some of the features include an adaptive gymnasium, custom-built indoor and outdoor play areas, a vocational training room, a multi-media library, art and music rooms, and an expansive medical suite. Our Early Learning Program is designed to focus on developing the social, communication, and daily living skills of young students, ages 3-12, diagnosed with autism and other developmental disabilities. For older students, we emphasize transitional skills and strive to help students live more independently. The Todd Fournier Center for Employment Training and Community Inclusion, located on the May Center campus, helps prepare young people to successfully transition from a school environment into the larger, and often more challenging, outside world. The May Center School is a Massachusetts Chapter 766-approved school.
