School Bio

Langan School provides educational services for K-12 students from 58 districts in the Capital District region and beyond. The primary goals and valued outcomes we foster in our graduates include independence, community inclusion and self-determination. Our 16 classrooms, including one at the Center’s St Margaret's skilled nursing facility, are staffed with Certified Master Special Education Teachers, Certified Teaching Assistants and Teacher’s Aides. Our classrooms utilize the RAAVE and MOVE educational models and reflect a 8:1:4 or 12:1: 6 student to staff ratio accordingly. The cornerstone of our curriculum is the common core standards based aligned Unique Learning System and New-2-You Curricula. Students are provided differentiated instruction across the Common Core subjects of ELA, Math, Science and Social Studies. Additionally, direct instruction is provided in Interpersonal, ADL and Prevocational skills. Generalization, Communication and Motor Skill Training are integrated in the educational program.
