Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center’s Bridge Builders School – Aged Program is for students in grades Kindergarten to second grade. Our program uses the Floortime-DIR Approach which focuses on the child’s strengths and emotional interests to challenge them to achieve social connection and reach their potential intellectual ability. Our 6:1:1 classroom’s are organized into sensory, symbolic, and semi-structured spaces. Our Bridge Builders K-2 classrooms use a multidisciplinary team approach to meet our student’s individual needs. Our teams include a Special Education Teacher, Teacher Aide, Speech-Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Music Therapist and parents. Our students day is from 8:30am – 2:00pm. During the day our students engage with activities that address their individual developmental capacities and guide them up the developmental ladder. These activities align with the Common Core and Second-Step curriculum. Our teams also use a balanced literacy approach to ensure our students are exposed to a language rich environment.
