Provider Bio
Clare Ferner is a professional committed to helping people with dyslexia and other learning differences. She has been working continuously in the field of reading and learning disabilities since 1979. She has an M.A. in reading education from Western Michigan University, a B.A. from The University of Michigan in English and Psychology, and is certified by the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators (AOGPE) to teach an approach designed specifically for children and adults with learning differences. She has taught in regular classrooms, small groups, and one-to-one with children and adults in public and private schools, private clinics, and community colleges. She served on a state branch Board of Directors of The International Dyslexia Association, worked for a college Office of Students with Disabilities, and attained the rank of Assistant Professor with tenure at the community college level. Ms. Ferner also has professional teacher certification in the state of Florida in the areas of K-12 Reading and ESE (Exceptional Student Education). She is a member of The International Dyslexia Association and The Academy of Orton Gillingham Practitioners and Educators. Ms. Ferner welcomes calls from parents of children and adolescents, as well as from adults, with documented or suspected learning disabilities.
